South Florida March 2026

Birds have inspired so many things! In some of these photos, you’ll see birds that I’m convinced helped inspire creators of the Jurassic Park movies! I had an incredible trip to Southern Florida, where I spent time birding around Miami and the Everglades. Luis Gonzales of Scrub-Jay Birding pointed me toward some fantastic spots to explore on my own, and I also enjoyed a full-day guided tour. The highlight of the trip was definitely Wakodahatchee Wetlands. A rookery lined the boardwalk, and it was amazing to see a variety of birds, and their babies, up close! By the end of the trip, I added 18 lifers - including the Painted Bunting!!!
